Kittery developer considers Katahdin area for rehab center – Bangor Daily News

Kittery developer considers Katahdin area for rehab center – Bangor Daily News.

This is an idea for a “luxury” rehab on a lake in the Millinoket area. The rehab will be right next to a mega bucks resort. The guy trying to do this has NEVER WORKED IN ADDICTION….he builds apartment buildings for a living.

Where are the picket signs?  Where are the neighbors screaming about how a parade of drug addicts will be coming to town to eat our young?  Where are the city council members that want to fight to limit the amount of people this rehab can treat or where it will be located?

They are no where to be found…and this developer wants to be sure of it..this is what he has to say:

“If patients require detox, that will happen before they come here,” Corcoran said. “The idea is to get people out of whatever environment they are in so they can focus on whatever issues they have. It’s just the opposite of a methadone clinic. This is not providing any drugs. It’s treating people with drug problems.”

So who do methadone clinics treat…people with ear infections?  For that matter can he honestly say that NO ONE at this facility will require pysch meds while they are there?  What about their other medications…for cholesterol, diabetes or pain?  Are those forbidden too?

Thankfully, they wont be getting any grant funding from the state to cover treatment for the poor, because if they did they would HAVE TO ACCEPT PEOPLE ON METHADONE!

George in Maine if they want any grants from the state to run their program they HAVE TO ACCEPT AND CONTINUE TREATMENT FOR PEOPLE ON METHADONE AND SUBOXONE.

It was a huge step forward for us, because before this most rehab facilities would tell patients they had to come off these medications before they could enter treatment for other addictions like cocaine or alcohol.

Looks like this is basically a halfway house or spber house. Might be good to ask him if they might allow someone on methadone or buprenorphine to go to their program? Is there a clinic and Bup MD near by this location that could get involved? Some sober houses will allow methadone patients. That would be nice.
