State Sanctions Las Vegas Clinic

This is why methadone clinics get such a bad reputation.

December 20, 2008  Las Vegas – Nevada health officials have warned a Las Vegas methadone clinic that it will be sanctioned for failing to follow patient safety laws.

officials announced Friday that the Vegas Valley Treatment Center cannot accept any new patients until 10 deficiencies are fixed.

The facility is one of a dozen methadone clinics in Nevada treating 2,300 patients statewide. The sanctions come following a state inspection in November that was instigated by a patient complaint.

Inspectors found that the physician in charge was not performing medical evaluations of the patients before methadone treatments. Those medical evaluations were, however, being performed by the clinic’s nurses.

Methadone us used for treating addictions to heroin and opioids.
