Of course, there will be people that have been taught to believe you can be a alcoholic still smoking lung cancer terminal patient–and your still better off than an addict.When my grandfather (whom drank at least a 12pk a day and smoked 3 packs of non-filters for years) was dying from prostate cancer (which had metatisized into a fist sized tumor on his spine) he was so scared of addiction he refused pain medication up til the BITTER end.
It was sad to see someone that could have died much more peacefully suffer so much for no other reason than stigma associated with pain medication and addiction.
